Tunnel Police give generously again

Merseyside Tunnels Police gave us another generous cheque again this
Christmas. Pupils went with Headmaster Andre Baird to accept the
cheque on behalf of Foxfield School.
Christmas Fair
This years Christmas fair was a great success. We had many of the
usual stall...cakes, tea and mince pies, raffles, hook or net a
duck, beat the goalie and many more. Plus sales of goods that the
pupils themselves had made. Coach Franks wife baked us another
wonderful cake to raffle and even Santa visited us for the evening
to give out selection boxes to smaller guests and all in all it was
a wonderful evening.

In Class 5.4 we have been looking at different jobs in the
workplace. Craig our volunteer brought his flight simulator into
class and we were able to try being airline pilots.
Using our interactive white board. We made the chairs into a plane
and even had in flight refreshments.
Class 5.4 ASDAN Work Awareness

As part of our Asdan module “Work Awareness” we have been looking at
other peoples jobs. in particular the roles of a nurse. We even had
a go at bandaging each other and putting slings on. Mr Howley popped
in to see us (See above for the result)
Operation Christmas Child/Shoe Box Appeal

This year Foxfield School pupils again participated in the Shoe Box
appeal providing Christmas gift boxes for children less fortunate
that themselves in poor and war torn countries. This year we filled
30 boxes to make others happy at Christmas. Here are the pupils of
class 5.4 with some of the filled boxes.
Gifted & Talented ID Event

Foxfield pupils entered the games which included Invasion Games –
Handball, Tag-Rugby and Basketball. It was hosted by Pensby Sports
College. Four of our pupils were identified as Gifted and Talent and
could be selected to represent Wirral!
Merseyside SLD Boccia Tournament

On Friday 25th September 2009 Foxfield Special Needs School in
Moreton entered four Boccia teams, ranging from Year 8 pupils to
Year 14 pupils into the Merseyside Boccia Tournament held at the
Greenbank Sports Academy, Liverpool, organized by Steve Sullivan.
Foxfields A and B Teams both made it through to the semi-finals and
won. Due to time constraints the final could not be held on the same
day, but was eventually held at Foxfield School on Tuesday 6th
October 2009. Post 16 pupils were invited to be spectators and the
officials (Roger Allkins and Chris Saunders) came from Claremount
Sports College. The Merseyside Boccia Final consisted of ‘six ends’
with the final end being very close indeed.
The Schools Boccia coach (Frank McDonough) commented after the final
“It was a very close contest in front of a packed out gymnasium,
where the result was decided in the final ‘end’, with Foxfield A
Team coming out on top with 6 points to 4.”Andre Baird (Head teacher
at Foxfield) presented the gold and silver medals to the Merseyside
Champions with pride.This sporting event has had a very positive
impact on the pupils involved, increasing their confidence,
self-worth and the value of being part of a team to achieve a common
goal

Merseyside Fire Brigade

Merseyside Fire Brigade visited Foxfield School last Friday and
showed the pupils all their fire fighting equipment and the safety
clothing they wear when fighting fires. We learned about the tools
they use to help get people out in car crashes too.

The Big Dance Show

Class 5.6 have been working with the inclusion dance team and
appeared together in the big dance show at Wetherhead School
Wallasey last Tuesday. Their dance represented Americans and all
that was good about their country.

visited Foxfield school today to present a new school mini bus on
behalf of The Rotary Club. Pictured here with Deputy Head Paul

16 Plus join MACHISMO dance workshop

Pupils from 16 plus last week joined in a dance workshop with
MACHISMO for a day at Pacific Road Theatre, Birkenhead. During the
day they had various classes and practiced their performance and
that night they performed along with 42 other pupils from schools
across Wirral in the show. The workshop was designed to gat male
students from across Wirral interested in Dance.
