Foxfield School New Building Special Edition

The final details and finishing touches are being added to the new Foxfield School building in Woodchurch. In a few weeks time all of the resources in the school will be packed up and moved then unpacked again and made ready for the pupils to come on the 2nd March 2015. This is a hugely exciting time for everyone at Foxfield and we hope everyone is looking forward to being in the new school building. In this special edition of the Foxfield newsletter there are photos of the building process and of some the classes   having a chance to look around the new school   building and to find their new classrooms. All classes will have been for a visit and each class will be able to send home individual photo packs so pupils can be prepared for the transition.

Inclusion Links 2014-5

This year our strong links with South Wirral High School and Woodchurch High School have enabled us to secure mainstream placements for inclusive learning opportunities for many of our students. This year we have fourteen pupils across the school attending South Wirral and five attending Woodchurch High for half a day per week to take part in various lessons such as English, Maths, Art, PE, Drama, ICT and Food Technology. They have produced some amazing work in these lessons and have made lots of new friends. We look forward to seeing more of what they have been up to on their placements as we move into our new school and the exciting year ahead. Well done and Thank you to all of our students who are involved in our inclusion programme, you are a credit to our school.

How our new school building was built ...

From an empty field in December 2013 a lot has happened to build our new school. By April 2014 the groundworks were done and the steel frame was lifted into place by cranes. By August, as we were all on our holidays, the builders had finished the outside brickwork and it was starting to look like a school!

After a lot of work on the inside classes were able to start visiting from November 2014 - just as long as they wore proper safety attire like class 12 are here!

What’s new for us when we move in ...

Class 6 had a chance to try out the new climbing wall that is part of the fantastic playground, which has lots of space as well as incorporating all of the equipment we were able to take with us, such as the outdoor gym/fitness equipment and the outdoor musical instruments.

All classes have a secure outside area that they can access directly from their class. This will give pupils a chance to have learning activities outside and maybe start growing flowers or vegetables in planters during the summer months. Key Stage 3 and Post 16 classes look out onto the new bicycle and wheelchair track, another exciting addition we can look forward to using.

Inside we have new specialist rooms including a Food Technology room with four separate cooking stations to prepare food in. There is a great new swimming pool and hydrotherapy pool, a huge gym and a much bigger office and reception area with extra rooms for meetings and visitors to the school.

Foxfield School Council 2014-15

These are this years Student Councillors. Students were asked to express their interest in representing the school to carry out this very important role. Then a ballot took place where all students across school had the chance to vote for who they would most like to represent them in their Key Stage. These are our winners! The first meeting will be held in early January. There are many things on the agenda such as deciding what charity we will support this year to raise money for collectively as part of the Merseyside CLD Cluster and discussion of our school uniform policy. We will also be visiting Merefield School to take part in a learning walk and in the Summer Term we will attend an event at Liverpool Town Hall to celebrate the successes of the year.
